Comment

Peter Raymond, Count of Carcassonne and Razès from 1012 to 1060, Viscount of Béziers and Agde, is the son of Raymond, son of Count Roger I the Elder of Carcassonne.

His father Raymond, eldest son of Count Roger I and heir to the counties of Carcassonne and Razès, however died before his own father. Peter Raymond therefore succeeds his grandfather in the counties of Carcassonne and Razès.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted during the reign of Roger II, who was the Count of Carcassonne and the founder of the Trencavel family, a powerful dynasty that ruled over the County of Carcassonne in the 11th and 12th centuries.
