Comment

Odo IV was not one of the eleven lords authorized to mint coins in 1316, but he did not give up coinage, which led to him being adjourned before the Parliament of Paris in 1321. Shortly after 1315, Odo IV closed the Dijon mint and decided to strike only at Auxonne.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it was issued during the reign of Odo IV, who was the Duke of Burgundy from 1315 to 1327. During his reign, he sought to strengthen the duchy's economy and military, and this coin was likely used as a means of facilitating trade and commerce within the region. Additionally, the coin's design, which features a castle and the letters "BG" underneath, may have been used to indicate the coin's denomination or to distinguish it from other coins in circulation at the time.
