Comment

According to Coupland, the type with the name of mint in the field was minted in Italy throughout the reign of Lothair, unlike the mints of northern Middle Francia where this type only replaced the Denier with temple around 850.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the Denier - Lothair I (Treviso) coin is that it features a unique blend of Christian and pagan imagery. On one side, the coin bears the image of Lothair I, while the other side features a depiction of a pagan deity, possibly Wotan or Odin. This blending of religious symbols reflects the cultural and religious diversity of the Carolingian Empire during that time period.
