Comment

This denier was struck at the Luxembourg-city mint, which was the case for all the coins struck under Henry VI (6 deniers, 2 oboles).

The average weight of 51 pieces was 0.53 g (Weiller, p.13). Bernays and Vannerus mention extreme weights of 0.43 g and 0.65 g. (BV, p. 51), according to them, Henri VI's numeral is characterized by a significant weakening of the weight compared with the previous strikes.

The structure mounted above the castle differentiates this L# 14-1 with the floret with .
The obverse of the two pieces is identical. The reverses are very similar, the legends also, but Probst distinguishes two types, this one, with the globe surmounting the castle and the type L# 14-1 with the floret that surmounts the castle. Bernays and Vannerus had an even more indistinct ranking.
Weiller, on the other hand, combines these two pieces under a single reference number, as similar they are. Differences should be considered as a variant and not as a separate type. The way to list Weiller is preferable, so this part and the L# 13-1 are only one type, the W# 10 (see variants below).

Several variants of the legend and punctuation have been identified, 8 for the obverse and 5 for the reverse. In total, 13 possible combinations of legends exist. The legend variant of the obverse described by Probst does not exist (compare Probst, p. 18 and Weiller, p. 12-13). The circle of the reverse can be replaced by pearls and the floret can be replaced by a globe.
