Interesting fact
The Denier coin from the Bishopric of Speyer, minted during the reign of Conrad I (1056-1060), was made of silver and features a unique design. On one side, it depicts a cross with four pelicans, while the other side bears the inscription "SPEYRENSIS ECCLESIA" (Church of Speyer) and a small cross. This coin is a rare example of a silver denier from the German States during the Middle Ages, and its design reflects the influence of the Catholic Church during that time.
