Comment

There are varieties in engraving legends.
The town of Substantion was, in the 10th century, the seat of the bishopric of Melgueil. The transfer of the bishopric to Maguelone, in 1037, by Bishop Arnaud I, and the economic boom of the city of Montpellier marked the beginning of its decline.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the Denier coin of Carloman II (Substantion) from the Kingdom of Lower Burgundy is that it features a unique design element - a small cross symbol located on the reverse side of the coin, which was a departure from the traditional Carolingian cross design used on other coins of the time. This distinctive feature has made the coin a popular collector's item among numismatists.
