Interesting fact
The Denga coin , which was issued by Alexander Patrikeyevich in the 14th century, features an image of a prince on horseback, which is a common motif in medieval Russian coinage. However, what makes this coin particularly interesting is that it was issued during a time of great political upheaval in the region. The Principality of Starodub, where the coin was minted, was one of several Rus principalities that were constantly at odds with each other, and the coin may have been used as a tool for Alexander Patrikeyevich to assert his authority and legitimacy as a ruler. Despite the turmoil of the time, the coin remains a valuable piece of history and a testament to the craftsmanship and artistry of medieval coin makers.
