The Denarius coin was used to pay Roman soldiers, and it was also used to pay taxes. In fact, during the reign of Emperor Vespasian (69-79 AD), the Roman government increased taxes and introduced a new tax called "Tributum," which was paid in Denarii. This coin was also used for trade and commerce, and its value was equivalent to about 1/4 of a Roman pound of silver. I hope you find this information helpful!
