One interesting fact about this coin is that it features an image of a fasces, a bundle of rods tied together with a protruding axe blade, on its reverse side. The fasces was a symbol of Roman authority and power, and its inclusion on the coin may have been intended to emphasize the authority and legitimacy of the Roman Republic.
