Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it features an image of Octavian, who would later become the Roman Emperor Augustus, on the obverse (front side), while the reverse (back side) features a depiction of Pontiff, which refers to Octavian's position as the Pontifex Maximus, the highest religious authority in Rome. This coin was minted in 31 BC, just a year before Octavian's victory over Mark Antony and Cleopatra in the Battle of Actium, which marked the end of the Roman Republic and the beginning of the Roman Empire.
