Comment
In 1688 the price of the gold ant the silver increased by 20%. There was no time to collect and cast the circulating coin. Therefore, by the Law 04AUG1688, the value of the silver and gold coins was also increased by 20%. However, during ~150 years the coinage remains unchanged with the circulating coins having a value ~20% above the mark.
Interesting fact
The Cruzado Novo coin featuring Maria I and Pedro III (High crown) from Portugal, minted between 1779 and 1785, is an interesting piece of history. One fascinating fact about this coin is that it was made with a unique blend of metals. Unlike modern coins that are typically made of a single metal, such as copper or zinc, the Cruzado Novo was crafted from a combination of silver (91.7%), copper (7.7%), and gold (0.6%). This distinctive blend of metals gives the coin a distinctive look and makes it stand out from other coins of its time.
