One interesting fact about the Cavallotto coin is that it was minted during a time of great turmoil in the Duchy of Savoy. Charles Emmanuel I, who ruled from 1580 to 1630, faced numerous challenges during his reign, including conflicts with neighboring states and the threat of Protestantism. Despite these challenges, he was able to maintain the independence of the Duchy and implement various reforms, including the introduction of a new coinage system, which included the Cavallotto coin.
