Comment

Possibly a later restrike with the original obverse die, executed by Leodegar Corragioni d'Orelli, Tresurer of the Republic of Lucerne between 1856-1860, Director of the Bank of Lucerne between 1860-1890, and President of the Bank of Lucerne between 1891-1900. Leodegar Corragioni d'Orelli was a notorious numismatist, author of "Münzgeschichte der Schweiz" in 1896 [1].

Between two and four pieces known [1].

Interesting fact

The Pattern Batzen coin from the City of Lucerne, made of copper, features the Latin inscription "SOLI DEO GLORIA," which translates to "Glory to God Alone." This inscription reflects the strong religious beliefs of the time and place where the coin was minted.
