Comment

The "XXI" in exergue is subject to debate, some people assuming it may refer to the billon alloy ratio (20:1 ratio giving 4.76% of silver).
Difference from RIC#921/RCV#11960 comes from the "PF" present in obverse legend and Probus receiving Victory instead of globe on reverse.
Over 20 varieties of officina/fieldmarks combinations are known for this coin.

Interesting fact

The Antoninianus coin, which was issued during the reign of Probus (276-282 AD), was the first Roman coin to feature a portrait of the emperor wearing a beard. This was a departure from the traditional clean-shaven image of Roman emperors and signaled a shift towards a more relaxed attitude towards personal grooming in the Roman Empire.
