Interesting fact

The Wang Mang (Third reform) coin, which was issued during the reign of Emperor Wang Mang (9-23 AD), was the first coin in ancient China to feature a square hole in the center. This unique design was intended to make the coin easier to tie together in strings, which was a common practice at the time. The square hole also made it easier to distinguish from other coins that were circulating at the time.
