Comment
In Krause's SCWC this coin is listed as KM#224, but Norwegian literature makes a distinction between these two coins. The reason is that this coin was minted under Frederik IV and KM#224 was minted under Christian VI, thus the inscriptions on the obverse is different.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 8 Skilling coin from Norway, minted during the reign of Frederik IV (1727-1730), is that it was made of Billon, an alloy of silver and copper, which was commonly used in the production of coins during that time period. The use of Billon was a cost-effective way to produce coins, as it was less expensive than using pure silver. Despite this, the 8 Skilling coin still contains 0.468 silver, giving it a unique blend of metals that sets it apart from other coins of its time.
