Interesting fact
The 8 Reales coin from Mexico, also known as the "NORTE" coin, has an interesting history. During the Mexican War of Independence, the Spanish colonial government in Mexico City ran out of silver coins to pay its soldiers, so it ordered the creation of a new currency, the "NORTE" coin, which was countermarked with a letter "N" on the reverse side. This coin was made of silver and was used as a temporary solution to the coin shortage. Today, the NORTE coin is a rare and valuable collector's item, highly sought after by numismatists.
