Comment

Although similar in design to KM#111, these .1 coins were made by Loyalists in their region. So the design is but a mere copy of the Mexico City one. And is normally found Over-struck on top of one of the following: Earlier 8 Reales, KM#123, MKA countermarked 8 Reales, 1812 cast countermarked 8 Reales, KM#202 and KM#190.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted during a time of political turmoil in Mexico. The Royalist coinage was issued by the Spanish Crown loyalists in opposition to the Mexican War of Independence, which began in 1810 and lasted until 1821. The coin's design features the image of Ferdinand VII, the King of Spain, and was intended to assert Spanish authority over the region. Despite the political tensions, the coin was widely used in the State of Chihuahua and remains a valuable collector's item today.
