Comment

FM represents the assayer Antonio Forcada y la Plaza.

Legend, representing the full title, starts on obverse and finishes on reverse.

This coin is thought to be unique: initially struck in 1786 and 1787 in Mexico for Venezuela, most have been recalled and melted in 1788.

The other examples of this type are currently considered period or modern fakes and all have different weights.

Interesting fact

The 8 Reales coin from New Spain (Mexico) made of Silver weighing 16.18g is interesting because it was used as a form of currency during the Spanish colonial period in Mexico, and it features an image of King Charles III on one side and the Spanish coat of arms on the other.
