Comment
Akita Fūgin was very popular at the time they was issued. However, the price of silver went down, resulting the value of 8 Monme for 1 Ryō became impossible. They were withdrawn after ciculating for only 11 months. Later the silver amount were adjusted to 9.2 Monme for 1 Ryō as Akita Ginban.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the Akita Fūgin coin is that it was minted during a time of great change in Japan. The coin was produced in 1863, just a few years before the Meiji Restoration of 1868, which marked the end of Japan's feudal era and the beginning of its modernization. The coin's design, featuring a stylized phoenix and the Japanese characters for "Akita Fūgin," reflects the cultural and artistic traditions of the time. Despite its age, the coin remains a popular collector's item and a symbol of Japan's rich history.
