Interesting fact
The Brontosaurus depicted on the coin is actually a misidentification. The coin features a illustration of a sauropod dinosaur, but it is not a accurate representation of a Brontosaurus. The name Brontosaurus was incorrectly used to describe a different type of sauropod, Apatosaurus, in the early 20th century. This mistake was later corrected, but the name Brontosaurus has continued to be used in popular culture, including on this coin.
