This coin is the double of another coin (37.5 Reis) issued at the same time and used to pay the native gold to the miners.

Interesting fact

The 75 Réis coin from Brazil, minted between 1818 and 1821, features an interesting design element - the portrait of King João VI on the obverse side is surrounded by a wreath made of coffee branches, which was a nod to Brazil's significant coffee industry at the time.
