Comment
The price of audacityIt was on the island of Mactan, in the Philippines, that Ferdinand Magellan lived his last moments, paying a high price for his audacity. However, the navigators death didn't end his epic enterprise, which was completed in 1522 by Sebastián Elcano. In 2022, INCM will issue this series fourth and final commemorative coin, dedicated to the last stage of the circumnavigation.
Interesting fact
The Mactan 1521; Gold) 2021 coin from Portugal features an image of Ferdinand Magellan, a Portuguese explorer who led the first expedition to circumnavigate the globe in 1519-1522. The coin commemorates the 500th anniversary of Magellan's arrival in the Philippines, specifically the Battle of Mactan on April 27, 1521, where he met his demise.
