Comment

In 1606, the coinage of a new gold denomination began, known as "Carolin". It corresponded to 16 marks of Swedish coin, and its creation was connected with the introduction of a change in the import of goods which was to be paid in Hungarian guilders. In the same year they began with the coinage of multiple Carolin pieces for representation purposes. The 4 Carolin piece from 1609 is similar to the 6-mark of the same year except for the denomination on the back. The coin type as such is also related to the renewed dispute with the Danes about the right to have the Three Crowns as coat of arms.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the Standard circulation coin 64 Mark - Karl IX (Type II) 1609 from Sweden made of Gold (.979) weighing 19.56 g is that it was minted during the reign of King Charles IX of Sweden, who ruled from 1604 to 1611. This coin was part of a series of coins minted during his reign, known as the "Charles IX coinage," which aimed to promote trade and commerce in Sweden. The coin's design features the king's portrait on one side and the coat of arms of Sweden on the other, symbolizing the country's rich history and cultural heritage.
