Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 6 Pence - George VI (3rd coinage) 1949-1952 coin is that it was the first coin to feature the new portrait of King George VI, which was designed by sculptor Thomas Humphrey Paget. The new portrait was introduced to replace the previous portrait of the King, which had been used on coins since his accession to the throne in 1936. The new design was meant to give a more mature and regal appearance to the King, who had been struggling with health issues in the years leading up to his death in 1952.
