Comment

Prior to the Federation of the various Australian Colonies in 1910, the British Sterling Currency (amongst others including the "Spanish Pillar Dollar" or 8 Reals and even Rum at one point) served as circulating currency in the colonies but following Federation in 1901, permission from the Crown was granted for Australia to strike its own, unique coinage & later in 1913, its own banknotes.
Due to the death of Edward VII, the 1910 issues became a "One Year Only Type" and is highly sought after by collectors due to that fact as well as it being the inaugural issue of Australian Sterling Coinage.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 1910 Australian 6 Pence coin is that it was minted during the reign of King Edward VII, who was the son of Queen Victoria and ascended to the throne after her death in 1901. This coin features a portrait of the king on one side and the iconic Australian kangaroo on the other, symbolizing the country's rich wildlife and natural resources. Additionally, the coin was made of silver (.925) and weighed 2.83 grams, making it a valuable and collectible piece for numismatists and history enthusiasts.
