Comment
These pieces were generally hand cut from silverware donated by Royalist supporters towards the end of the English Civil War so consequently weight data is approximate and will vary. Newark-on-Trent, with its strategic geographical location, was a mainstay of the Royalist cause and was subject to a number of Parliamentarian attacks, starting in February 1643. The final surrender was 6th May 1646.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 6 Pence - Charles I (Newark siege coinage) 1646 from England is that it was minted during the English Civil War, specifically during the Siege of Newark, which lasted from 1644 to 1646. The coin was minted in limited quantities using silver from looted church plate and other sources, and it features a unique design that includes a crowned bust of Charles I on one side and a shield with the royal arms on the other. The coin's rarity and historical significance make it highly valuable among collectors today.
