Comment

Type H, 734-736 AH, bilingual type, consisting of plain circle obverse & reverse

Some Khorasanian mints of this type have the Hijri date instead of the Khani year, both the correct date of 736 and the incorrect date of 733, presumably an engraver’s error (both S).

The date is given in the Khani calendar, a solar calendar invented by the Ilkhans and based on year one commencing in 701 Hijri.  Thus year 33 corresponds to 734/735, 34 to 735/736, 35 to 736/737, etc.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 6 Dirhams - Abu Sa'id (Type H) ND (1334-1336) coin from Ilkhanate is that it features a unique blend of Islamic and Mongolian influences in its design. The coin's obverse side features a stylized representation of the Mongolian emperor, Abu Sa'id, while the reverse side bears the traditional Islamic declaration of faith, "There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah." This blending of cultures reflects the historical context in which the coin was minted, during a time when the Mongol Empire had conquered much of the Islamic world and was actively promoting cultural exchange and religious tolerance.
