Giovanni Antonio Canal (Venice, October 18, 1697 - Venice, April 19, 1768), better known as Canaletto, was a Venetian painter famous for his panoramas (vedute) of Venice.Along with Bernardo Bellotto and Francesco Guardi, he is one of the most important exponents of Italian "vedute" (or cityscape) painting. Along with Giambattista Pittoni and Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, he is one of the principal Italian Old Masters of the Venetian Renaissance. (Source : www.wikipedia.org)
