The Sikhote-Alin meteorite, which is featured on the coin, is one of the largest meteorites to have survived entry into Earth's atmosphere and landed intact. It fell in eastern Russia in 1947 and was recovered in 1971. The meteorite is estimated to be around 70 tons in weight and is considered to be one of the most significant meteorite discoveries of the 20th century.
