Tigran Vartanovitch Petrossian (Armenian: Տիգրան Պետրոսյան, Russian: Тигран Вартанович Петросян), was a Soviet chess player born on June 17, 1929 in Tbilisi, Georgian SSR (USSR) of Armenian parents and died on August 13, 1984 in Moscow.International Grandmaster in 1952, he became the ninth World Chess Champion from 1963 to 1969.
