It was planned to be issued in the early of 2021 but due to COVID-19 situation in Japan, preparation of vending machines and ATMs were delayed. On January 22nd 2021 the Ministry of Finance announced that the release will be postponed. On April 27th 2021, it was announced that the coin was to be issued in November. The production of the coins began on June 21st.
