The Tokyo Station Marunouchi Building designed by Kingo Tatsuno, was completed in 1914. Its interior and the roofs of its north and south domes were burned down in 1945 due to the war. It was designated as a national important cultural property in 2003, and renovated to its original appearance in 2012.

Gyoko Street (Tokyo Metropolitan Road Route 404, Kokyo-mae Tokyo Teishajo Line) is leading from the square in front of the Tokyo Station Marunouchi Building to the Imperial Palace, Gyoko Street is a historic avenue that is occasionally used for official events of the Imperial family, as well as for processions of horse-drawn carriages or automobiles during a Ceremony of the Presentation of Credentials for newly appointed foreign ambassadors.
