Interesting fact
The 500 Manat coin from Turkmenistan, issued in 2005 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of World War II, has an interesting feature. The coin's obverse side bears an image of the country's former president, Saparmurat Niyazov, who was also known for his eccentricities. Niyazov had a reputation for renaming months of the year after himself and his family, and even went so far as to rename bread after his mother. This coin is a unique example of a leader's personal branding efforts.
