Interesting fact
The coin features a portrait of King Mihai I, who was the last king of Romania and ruled from 1927 until the abolition of the monarchy in 1947. Despite his association with the coin, King Mihai I was actually known for his efforts to oppose the Communist regime that took power in Romania after World War II. He was eventually forced to abdicate and leave the country, but he remained a popular figure among Romanians and was later rehabilitated as a symbol of national unity.
