Comment

The Bistrița Monastery (Romanian: Mănăstirea Bistrița) is a Romanian Orthodox monastery located 8 km west of Piatra Neamț. It was dedicated in 1402, having as original ctitor the Moldavian Voivode Alexandru cel Bun whose remains are buried here. The church is historically and archaeologically valuable. It shows features of Byzantine architecture, is richly ornamented, with a 15th-century entrance door of fine craftsmanship and detailed frescoes.

Interesting fact

The Bistriţa Monastery coin, minted in 2002, is a rare and valuable collector's item, with only 1,000 coins produced. It features an image of the Bistriţa Monastery, a historic Orthodox monastery in Romania, on one side, and the Romanian coat of arms on the other. The coin's gold content and limited mintage make it a highly sought-after collectible among numismatists and gold investors.
