There are two variations of the Obverse arms in 2007. One variation has arms that look like the 2006 arms. The other variation is missing the "DE" in the legend banner at the top of the arms.

Interesting fact

The 500 Colones coin was the first coin in Costa Rica to feature a magnetic core, which was introduced in 2006 as a security measure to prevent counterfeiting. The magnetic core is made of a special alloy that responds to magnetic fields, making it difficult for counterfeiters to produce fake coins that can pass through metal detectors.
