The Art of Chinese Calligraphy series, which this coin is a part of, was launched by the People's Bank of China in 2019 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. The series features four different designs, each representing a different aspect of Chinese calligraphy: Seal Script, Clerical Script, Regular Script, and Semi-cursive Script. The coin , which features the Regular Script, is the third coin in the series and was released in 2020.
