In an oval - a half-length portrait of P.S. Nakhimov dressed in ceremonial uniform, under him -banners, an anchor. The inscription at the top along the rim: "АДМИРАЛ П.С. НАХИМОВ" (ADMIRAL P.S. NAKHIMOV), at the bottom - the dates "1802" "1855".

Date of issue: 03 JUL 2002Pavel Stepanovich Nakhimov (1802-1855) - Russian sea captain, Admiral who commanded the Russian squadron during the Crimea War and destroyed the Turkish fleet in the course of the Synop Sea Battle in 1853. In 1854 - 1855 he was one of the heads of heroic defence of Sevastopol. He was then mortally wounded on the Malakhov Burial-Mound.
