Comment
Krausse refers to KM 506.1 & 506.2. It is a mistake. Lokking to the most important portuguese catalogues and to the legislation, there is not such difference. The only difference, according to Krausse, is the diameter, 15.0 & 15.5 mm. This is the normal variation from die to die. The crown and the remaining elements are exactly the same. Therefore, it makes no sense to have two references.Interesting fact
The 50 Réis coin from Portugal, minted between 1862 and 1889, features an interesting design element. On the obverse side, the coin bears the image of King Luiz I, while the reverse side features the Portuguese coat of arms surrounded by a wreath of laurel leaves. This design was a departure from the previous design, which featured a simple numerical value on the reverse side. The inclusion of the coat of arms was a nod to the country's rich history and heritage.
