Comment

NOTE: This coin is a Piedfort for KM# 314, means to be a coin minted on a doubled thickness planchet, but using the dies of the regular issue. Therefore, the weight shown in the reverse does not match with the actual weight.

The Cuban railroad was the first in Hispano-America, only 7 years after English service, and before the first service at Spain (at the moment, Cuba still was a Spanish Colony).
To 2010 Cuban Railroad system had nearly 8,200Km, connecting all the main sea ports and main cities, from which 5,000 are for public use, about 8 million passengers/year, 8.5 million Tons. of goods, including 4 million of sugar cane, sugar and their subproducts.
