Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique design that commemorates the Viking heritage of the Isle of Man. The coin's reverse side depicts a Viking longship sailing across the map of the island, which serves as a nod to the Viking settlers who arrived on the Isle of Man in the 10th century. This design was created by sculptor and engraver, Michael Rizzello, and was used on the 50 pence coin from 1976 to 1979.
