Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the Non-circulating coin 50 Pence - Elizabeth II (Suffragette Movement; Gold Proof) 2003-2009 from United Kingdom is that it was designed by sculptor and artist, Mary Milner-Dickens. The coin features an image of a suffragette chain on one side, and Queen Elizabeth II on the other. The coin was issued to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Women's Social and Political Union, which was founded in 1903 to fight for women's suffrage in the UK. The coin's design was meant to symbolize the struggle for women's rights and the chain represents the bonds that women had to break to achieve their goal of gaining the right to vote.
