The Milner's Tower was built in 1871 by the residents of Port Erin in honuor of William Milner, a Liverpool safemaker. The tower was built in the shape of a lock in honour of Milner wha was a great benefactor of the town. The tower was meant to be built in secret as a surprise, but once Milner found out he donated much of the building cost.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 50p coin featuring Elizabeth II (Milner's Tower) from the Isle of Man is that it was designed by sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley, who is known for his portrayals of the Queen. The coin's design features a portrait of Her Majesty wearing a crown and facing to the right, with the tower in the background. The coin's mintage was relatively low, with only 2.1 million coins produced during its 12-year production run, making it a sought-after collector's item.
