This coin is plain edge (no inscription). There is also a coin with edge inscription to commemorate the Royal Visit of Queen Elizabeth II on the Isle of Man issued also in 1979 as well as there is a similar coin issued in 1980 with other edge inscription to commemorate the exhibition in New York. Links to these coins below. Coin was also produced in other metals (copper-nickel, gold, platinum) - look at the series to see all variants.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 1979 Isle of Man 50p coin is that it features a unique design that commemorates the Day of Tynwald, which is an annual event held on the Isle of Man to celebrate the island's Viking heritage and the anniversary of the Tynwald Oath, a centuries-old oath of allegiance to the British Crown. The coin's design features a depiction of the Tynwald Hill, where the oath is traditionally taken, surrounded by a wreath of Viking-style interlace. This coin is particularly special because it is made of sterling silver and has a relatively low mintage of 30,000, making it a sought-after collector's item among numismatists.
