First issued in 2006 with Ian Rank-Broadley's 4th portrait to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the institution of the Victoria Cross, reissued in 2009 in the 16-piece sets to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the 50 pence denomination.This 2019 issue features Jody Clark's fifth obverse portrait and forms part of the 5-coin British Military Set celebrating 50 years of the 50p it was available in Proof sets (issue limit: 3,500) as well as in a Brilliant Uncirculated Set (9,902 sales) and available to third parties as BU individually (22,500 sales).
