Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique design that combines the image of Queen Elizabeth II with a depiction of the popular children's book character, the Gruffalo, and his friend, the Mouse. This design was created by the artist, Axel Scheffler, and it is the first time that a British coin has featured a fictional character. The coin was issued to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first book in the Gruffalo series, "The Gruffalo," which was published in 1999.
