This coin was issued to commemorate the Birmingham Commonwealth Games and the non-coloured variety without privy mark was included as part of the Annual Proof sets, while this coloured Brilliant Uncirculated strike was issued individually. There were 4 different privy marks added to the coloured BU, one for each of the 4 nations of the UK. The coin was also struck in silver proof, coloured silver proof, silver piedfort, coloured silver piedfort, gold proof and platinum proof. The mintage comprised an individual pack (2,490 sales) and part of a four coin pack (2,497 sales).
