The coin was initially scheduled for release on March 31st 2019. A second batch was manufactured when Brexit was further delayed until October 31, 2019. The minting was then paused to reflect the political uncertainty of the time. Most of these first two batches were recalled and melted down into other coinage, however, a coin from the October run was found in circulation in April 2022.
