Issued for circulation in 2011 as part of the 29-piece set struck to commemorate the Summer Olympics, London 2012 as well as in a Brilliant Uncirculated pack (117,566 sales), while also sold with the other 28 BU packs in a folder (25,759 sales), the coin was also struck in silver BU and gold proof.© The Royal Mint, 2011
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique design depicting Queen Elizabeth II in a dynamic pose, tossing a handball. This design was created by sculptor David Cornell and was the first time that the Queen had been depicted in such an active pose on a coin. The coin was issued to commemorate the 2012 London Olympics and was released into circulation in 2011.
